Selected 2011 Press

Sundance Review - HERE
Ray Greene, Box Office Magazine
"Braden King's lyrical cinepoem HERE is one of those movies so fully achieved it restores your faith in cinema."

HERE - Love in the time of Google Maps
Karina Longworth, LA Weekly / Village Voice
"King's blending of naturalism and pure cinematic flourish packs an unexpectedly powerful emotional punch. It's the road trip romance reinvented, remapped."

Alex Zafiris' interview with Director Braden King for BOMB
"A stand-out at Sundance and Berlin, Braden King’s HERE deals with themes of exploration in life, cinema, and map-making. Despite the scope of collaborators and media, the project emerges as a deeply personal work that examines the richness and fragility of a moment, and the fragmented elements that bring you there."

James Ponsoldt's interview wth Director Braden King for Filmmaker
"HERE concerns itself with the way we see - both each other and the landscape. It's the story of a romance told in vibrant images. The tiny, dreamy moments spent gazing at the rushing world from a car window, or drinking and laughing with new and old friends - these are the memories that HERE burns into your brain."

See the film's Facebook page and official website for additional press and interviews.

To our Contributors

Sincere thanks to all of HERE's contributors.
As I've written previously, your belief in HERE has been beyond meaningful. I've been slower than I'd like in getting your rewards out the door - thank you all for your patience. If it's any consolation, the delay is due to the film's success, which has kept me on the road far more than expected. You have not been forgotten! (And you'll get a few extras for your trouble.)

For the rest of you, It's not too late to make a tax-deductible contribution to support the project as it rolls into distribution. Whether $1, $10, $100 or more, every dollar raised will play an indispensable role in HERE's continued success. Secure, tax-deductible contributions can be made through the project's Fiscal Sponsor, The San Francisco Film Society. (The SFFS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization; it qualifies for many employer matching programs.)

The HERE website features descriptions of the reward levels we'll use to show our appreciation, ranging from signed photo books and soundtrack CDs to private HERE screenings.  Contribute today.

Non-monetary contributions are just as essential to HERE's success.
Sharing your enthusiasm for HERE via your blog, website, Facebook page or Twitter account is a powerful way to support the film. You can also get behind HERE by becoming a fan on Facebook and following HERE on Twitter.

In Closing

2011 has been a whirlwind year for HERE and the film will continue to have a long, healthy life in 2012. Thanks to everyone who has programmed HERE, come out to a screening and ridden along on the journey thus far.

Sincerely,

Braden King

*Special thanks to Skywalker Sound, Milwaukee, Palo Alto, Crested Butte and AFFMA (LA) as well as Cinema Jové (Valencia, Spain), the Polar Lights Film Festival (Murmansk, Russia) and Films by the Sea (NL). An additional thanks to Fine Line Magazine for sponsoring HERE's screenings in Milwaukee.
