Composer Michael Krassner started the Boxhead Ensemble in the early 90's, initially to score a number of short films by Larry Stuckey and Braden King. The Ensemble went on to record the critically acclaimed soundtrack to the film Dutch Harbor: Where the Sea Breaks its Back in 1997 at Truckstop Audio Recording Company [Chicago], where Krassner was a founding partner. Subsequent Boxhead Ensemble recordings include a pair of live records from two international Dutch Harbor screening and live performance tours (The Last Place to Go and Niagara Falls), the studio album Two Brothers and the most recently released CD, Quartets. The Ensemble also recently recorded the soundtrack for the HBO America Undercover documentary The Smashing Machine; the Life and Times of Mark Kerr and will be contributing a track to the new David Gordon Green film, Undertow.

Throughout this time, krassner continued to work at Truckstop Audio Recording producing and recording artist such as Simon Joyner, Matt Marque, Songs:Ohia, Manishevitz, Parker Paul, the Tren Brothers, Mick Turner, Terminal 4, Glenn Kotche and his own band, the Lofty Pillars.

n 2001 Krassner relocated to Los Angeles and continued to engineer at Kingsize Soundlabs working with Patrick Park, the Sun, Koufax, Earlimart, Wes Cunningham and most recently, Chicago art rockers Califone..

Recent Krassner highlights:

The latest Boxhead Ensemble CD, "Quartets", was released by Atavistic in October, 2003... the new Krassker-produced Simon Joyner record, "Lost With the Lights On" is being released on JagJaguar early next year... a Jamison Parker EP engineered by Krassner just dropped in September on Interscope and Patrick Park's "Lonliness Knows My Name", [also engineered by Krassner] was released in August on Hollywood Records.
